Air Carriage of Unaccompanied Minors – General Provisions

Donavia provides services for air carriage of unaccompanied minors (not accompanied by parents or any air travelers over 18 years old).

Our company’s representatives and crew members will take care of your child from his/her accepting from the escorting person until handing over to the meeting person at the point of destination.

As unaccompanied minors only children  from 5 till 12 years old can be carried (children before 5 years old can be carried only if accompanied by an adult). By request of the parents or any persons substituting for this provision can be applied to minors before 16 years old.

JSC Donavia provides a service on carriage of unaccompanied minors, which travel on direct route either one way or a round-trip, the service covers flights of Donavia or a transit/transfer route with a transfer to Donavia flight or flights of Aeroflot – Russian airlines or Rossiya airline, if connection time between flights does not exceed 6 hours and airport of arrival is the same as the airport of the departure of passenger’s next flight.

You can arrange about an unaccompanied minor to be carried on flight at the representative offices and agencies of Aeroflot.

The service for air carriage of unaccompanied minors is chargeable.

A child’s age is defined for the date of beginning of air carriage from the point (airport) of origin specified in a traffic document.

Carriage of an unaccompanied minors is surcharged as 100% as per tariff of an adult passenger, regardless child’s’ age. For unaccompanied minors service the extra payment is charged as established by Aeroflot.

Special meals for a child can be ordered at the representative office of Aeroflot or by phones of Information and Booking Service of Aeroflot not later than 36 hours before the departure.

A child will be offered a separate seat and will be allowed free-of-charge carriage of baggage in accordance with the established standards.

All required security procedures similar to those standards for screening of passengers and their belongings will be applied to unaccompanied minors to ensure your in-flight safety, comfort, to prevent disorderly behaviour and offence of law.

A child can be accepted for carriage, if:

  • child is traveling on direct flights of JSC Donavia;
  • child is traveling on a transit/transfer route with transfer to flight of Donavia, Aeroflot or Rossiya airlines;
  • child is accompanied to the airport of departure by seer-off;
  • he/she has all documents required for flight;
  • all required procedures and formalities have been fulfilled;
  • payment for his/her air carriage has been received in full;
  • the escorting persons stay at the airport of departure until take-off;
  • he/she is definitely picked up at the airport of arrival.

The airline will not be held liable in case of a child’s removal from a flight due to wrongly issued documents.

If a child is not met at the airport of arrival all expenses incurred in connection with the return to the point of departure will be borne by the person specified in the Application form for a parent (or legal representative).

Rules for air carriage of unaccompanied minors on domestic flights

  • As unaccompanied minors only children from 5 till 12 years old  can be carried (children before 5 years old can be carried only if accompanied by an adult). By request of the parents or any persons substituting for this provision can be applied to children before 16 years old.
  • When purchasing a ticket for an unaccompanied minor, the escorting person must fill in and sign the Application form for a Parent (or legal representative) in 4 copies in case of a direct travel (without transfer traffic) and in 6 copies in case of a transfer/transit route.
  • The documents required to issue a ticket for an unaccompanied minor include a birth certificate or a passport.
  • A ticket for an unaccompanied minor must be issued not later than 24 hrs before departure.
  • At the day of departure the escorting persons ought to see the company’s representative or a person at check-in counter asking him/her to call the company’s representative.
  • Check-in of a child at the airport is to be performed in the presence of the escorting person, who produces an ID, a filled in and signed Application form for a Parent, and the child’s birth certificate or a passport.
  • At the airport of arrival an escorting person must produce his/her ID, and the company’s representative will hand the child over to him/her.

Rules for air carriage of unaccompanied minors on international flights

  • As unaccompanied minors only children from 5 till 12 years old can be carried (children before 5 years old can be carried only if accompanied by an adult). By request of the parents or any persons substituting for this provision can be applied to children before 16 years old.
  • When purchasing a ticket for an unaccompanied minor, the escorting person must fill in and sign the Application form for a Parent (or legal representative) in 4 copies in case of a direct travel (without transfer traffic) and in 6 copies in case of a transfer/transit route.
  • The documents required to issue a ticket for an unaccompanied minor include:

– If the child is a Russian citizen: apart from an international passport with a visa (in necessary) mandatory for all children, a notarized (or verified at the consulate) approval (Letter of Authority) for departure from the Russian Federation from parents (adoptive parents, foster parents, or guardians) is required in accordance with article 20 of Federal Law of Russia On procedures of exit from and entry to Russia specifying the leaving term and a country (countries) which he/she intends to visit;

– In case if one of the parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, or guardians declares his/her disagreement with the departure of a minor Russian citizen from Russia the departure must be settled by a court. The procedure of submission of the application for departure from Russia shall be established by the authorized federal executive body;

– In case a child leaves for more than 3 months such consent must be approved by the guardianship’s authorities as established by the government of Russia;

– If the child is a foreign citizen: apart from the properly issued traffic documents and a passport in compliance with the legislation of the country of destination/departure it is necessary to have an approval (Letter of Authority) verified at the consulate of the Russian Federation for entry to/departure from the Russian Federation specifying the staying term and a country (countries) which he/she intends to visit; such approval (Letter of Authority) being produced by parents (adoptive parents, foster parents, or guardians).

  • The escorting person bears all the responsibility for the child’s documents compliance, which is certified by their signature on the Application form for Parent (or legal representative).
  • The airline will not be held liable in case of a child’s removal from a flight due to wrongly issued documents.
  • A ticket for an unaccompanied minor must be issued not later than 24 hrs before departure.
  • At the day of departure the escorting persons ought to see the company’s representative or a person at check-in counter asking him/her to call the company’s representative.
  • Check-in of a child at the airport is performed in the presence of the escorting person, who produces an ID, a filled in and signed Application form for a Parent, and the child’s birth certificate or passport.

Rules for pets carriage

1. Carriage of pets by air

Donavia carries on its scheduled flights pets that do not require special conditions of transportation, not exceeding two non-antagonistic animals in the cabin and  no more than four animals per flight.

Donavia’s regular flights can carry pets (dogs, cats, birds, fish and other pets) in the cabin of an aircraft as checked-in baggage only with an accompanying person.

Carriage of pets must be agreed with the carrier beforehand – when buying a ticket, passengers must inform the agent on their intention to take a pet aboard.

Carriage of pets is allowed only provided that the owner produces veterinary certificates, if necessary – the certificates of quarantine service.

Owner of animal or bird carries responsibility for fulfilling the country legislation to which one or via which one the flight is being operated. Please make sure that you are able to provide all the required documents in accordance with Russian Federation legislation, international agreements and country legislation being your flight destination or connection.

Please note that some countries have specific regulation for carrying animals. We recommend you to arrange the consultation in the embassy of departure and arrival countries for more detailed information in regard of animals and birds transportation regulations.

Russian Federation requirements for animals transportation are available on the websites as follows:

Pets are allowed for the carriage in the cabin in the suitable containers/cages providing for necessary conveniences during air carriage, with free access for air and a safe latch (lock). The bottom of the container must be solid, waterproof and covered with a layer of absorbing material. The cages for birds must be covered with a thick impervious to light tissue.

Pets are allowed for the carriage in the cabin  if the weight of the animal with the container (cage) does not exceed 8 kg, and three dimensions size is not more than 115 cm.

The passenger’s guide dog, weight unlimited,  is carried free-of-charge in excess of a free allowed baggage in case a document to confirm the invalid status of a blind passenger as well as the document to confirm the special training of the guide dog are produced.

The guide dog must be in a muzzle and a dog-collar and roped to the seat of the passenger it is guiding. The passengers who are traveling with a guide-dog are provided seats in the end of the cabin (except the seats near emergency exits).

For air transportation the following items are not allowed to be transported as a luggage: animals and birds (with exception for house animals (birds) and service dogs), insects, fish, crawlers, rodents, test or sick animals where air transportation of above as a luggage is prohibited by Russian Federation Legislation, international agreements of the Russian Federation and the legislation of the country to/from or via which such transportation is being performed.

Transportation of the animals in luggage section of the aircraft on JSC Donavia flights is not being performed.

Pets are accepted for carriage provided that the passenger takes all the responsibility for them. The air carrier shall not be liable for any injuries, loss, delay in delivery, illness or death of the animals, or for the denial of their entry to, or transit through any country or territory.

2. Payment

The weight of a pet with the cage (gross weight) is not included in the free baggage allowance. An additional charge will be calculated at the rate of second piece of baggage.

Special meals

“Donavia” airline offers a special meal to passengers on its flights (developed in accordance with age, medical conditions and religious beliefs) with no additional charge instead of one meal.

Please note the change in the way to order special meals as from December 24, 2015:

It is possible to order a special meal on flights of “Donavia” JSC in Economy class for flights lasting more than 4 hours and in Business class for flights lasting more than 1 hour.

Passengers who have bought tickets on flights of “Donavia” JSC (Flights of other airlines of the “Aeroflot” Group of companies) and who have ordered a special meal before the changes were brought will be offered a special meal in accordance with the order.

The rules for offering special meals in flights of “Donavia” JSC in Economy class for a flight lasting more than 4 hours and in Business class for a flight lasting more than 1 hour, shall remain unchanged.

You can offer special meals when you purchase tickets at Aeroflot ticketing offices or at any ticketing agency not later than 36 hrs before departure.

Important!

  • In case of any changes to your booking meals should be ordered again.
  • In case of buying an open-data ticket and dating the flight less than 36 hours, provision of special meals service is not provided.
  • When transferring/re-booking of the passenger on the other flight less than 36 hours, provision of special meals service is not provided.
