Can passengers requiring special assistance buy a ticket online?

Unfortunately this is not currently possible. Unaccompanied children and disabled, elderly, sick or otherwise mobility-impaired passengers who require special assistance can book at an S7 sales office, or by phoning the S7 Contact Centre on (free within Russia). You can also call direct from the website using «Online call» at the bottom of the screen.

I’m expecting a baby soon. Can I buy a ticket online?

Yes, you can. Pregnant women are classed as passengers requiring special assistance, but may book tickets online. Nevertheless, please read the terms and conditions of carriage.

You must consult a doctor about possible contraindications before the flight and take into account their recommendations concerning the trip. Don’t forget that flying can negatively affect you or your baby’s health.

Can the airline refuse to carry a passenger who is on a stretcher, in a wheelchair, has limited mobility or is gravely ill?

Yes, this is possible when:

  • it is not possible to provide the proper assistance for the whole route, because not all of the aircraft are suitably equipped.
  • the passenger has medical contraindications against flying.
  • flying would constitute a threat to the health or life of the passenger (established on the basis of a medical examination, etc.), or to the safety of other passengers, their property, the aircraft or crew.

What are the strict medical contraindications to flying?

Strict contraindications to flying are: heart attack or cardiac surgery in the previous two weeks; unstable angina (angina pectoris); heart failure; uncontrollable heart arrhythmias (ventricular or supraventricular).

Diabetics should abstain from flying with absolute insulin deficiency, when the blood insulin level is sharply reduced and constant administration of insulin is required.

How can I arrange a flight for a gravely ill or mobility-impaired passenger?

Unfortunately tickets for passengers requiring special assistance cannot be booked online. They can be arranged only at an S7 sales office, or via the telephone Contact Centre, where a ticket sales agent can take all the necessary details and make enquiries about the possibility of such a flight. Wheelchair users may fly with an accompanying carer or under the care of the airline staff. The latter requires a written application.

A gravely ill person may fly only with an accompanying carer, and this requires the purchase of three seats at the economy class fare. Please make sure that you have all the necessary nursing things in your hand luggage. Medicines, a folding wheelchair, a stretcher or crutches are carried free of charge and do not count towards a passenger’s baggage weight allowance.

Children

My child will be flying unaccompanied. What is the boarding procedure, and who is responsible for my child during the flight and on arrival?

After check-in is complete, an S7 employee will take your child to board the plane, placing them under the responsibility of a flight attendant. They will then notify you that your child is safely onboard.

Upon arrival at the destination airport, the flight attendant will place your child in the care of an airport employee, who in turn will take them to the person meeting them.

If that person does not give any notice of themselves in the arrivals area, the airport staff will attempt to find them; they may contact you to assist. If all else fails, the child will be sent back to the airport of departure under the supervision of airline staff.

My child will be 12 years old on the departure date. What ticket should I buy for him/her — “Child” or “Adult”?

You should buy an adult ticket: children aged 12 or more on the departure date are classed as “Adults” in our booking system.

When booking the ticket online, please select the document type “Other”, and enter the number from the child’s birth certificate. (It is not necessary to include the series code.)

I’m travelling with a child under two and want him/her to have a seat of his/her own. Is it possible?

Your child would normally have an «Infant» ticket due to his/her age (under two years old). An adult passenger can transport one infant without a separate seat (although a ticket for the infant must be registered).

Please call our Contact Centre on (free within Russia) for further information.

Do you provide cradles for infants?

Not all aircrafts are equipped with cradles for infants. You can find out only just before departure, when the aircraft registration number is known.

For help with this, please contact the check-in counter staff, or call the S7 Contact Centre on (free within Russia). You can also call direct from the s7.ru.

What documents do I need to send my child on a flight unaccompanied?

  • Air ticket for the child and document confirming payment for the service “Transportation of the unaccompanied child”. You can file the service at the Contact Centre or at S7 Airlines offices. The service cost amounts from 3000 RUB on domestic flights, and from 50 EUR on international flights for 1 flight segment on a one way flight.
  • A declaration for the transportation of an unaccompanied child, issued at an S7 representative office or sales office, or at the airport check-in counter, and signed by the child’s parents (adoptive parents, legal guardians, etc.) Sample declaration

  • If the child is a citizen of the Russian Federation, travel outside Russia requires a notarised letter of consent from the parents (adoptive parents, legal guardians etc.) for exit of the child from the Russian Federation, specifying the period of absence and the itinerary.

My child will turn two during our trip. What ticket should I buy for him/her — “Infant” (under two years old) or “Child” (2 years or more)?

A child’s ticket type is governed by their age on the departure date. Therefore you should buy an “Infant” ticket if your child will turn two during your trip.

At what age can children travel unaccompanied?

Children agedbetween 5 and 16 years old on the day of departure can travel without an accompanying adult. They may travel on direct flights (no connections) operated by S7 only.

Can I buy a ticket for my child via the website if I have already bought a ticket for myself?

Yes, you can, but please call our Contact Centre on 8 800 700-0707 (free within Russia) and give us your details (or the details of the accompanying person): name, booking number and ticket number. In this case the child will not be allowed to fly without the named accompanying person.

Animals

I use a guide dog — can it travel with me in the cabin?

Yes, it can, as long as you have the certificate confirming the dog’s special training. Please make sure that your dog is wearing a muzzle and is on a lead. In the cabin, tie your dog to the chair at your feet. Guide dogs are carried free of charge.

Note that blind passengers are classed as requiring special assistance, and so cannot book tickets online. Please visit an S7 sales office, where a ticket sales agent can take all the necessary details and request the booking.

Flights with a guide dog, as with a pet animal, require certain preliminaries:

  • The dog must have been vaccinated against rabies not earlier than a year and not later than a month before the flight.
  • Before checking in you must take your dog through an inspection with the Veterinary Control Service of the departure airport, and show the animal’s ‘Pet Passport’ and veterinary certificates (for travel in Russia and CIS countries).

You can check your pet an S7 sales offices. Notice that passenger with pet should be eighteen plus.

Puppy and kittens of up to 8 weeks of age are not allowed for transportation due to the possibility of dehydration during the flight. Kittens under 12 weeks need a veterinary certificate confirming that they can be transported by air.

Where will my cat be during the flight — in the cabin or in the baggage hold?

On S7 flights animals are generally transported in the baggage hold. But you can take your pet with you in the cabin if:

  • The total weight of the pet and the container/cage does not exceed 8kg; and
  • The sum of the three dimensions of the cage does not exceed 115cm, and the height does not exceed 20 cm.

Is my pet in its container included in my free baggage allowance?

No, your free baggage allowance does not include animals and birds. Transportation of pets is paid for at the excess baggage rates, calculated depending on the total weight of animal and container, regardless of the total number of baggage items you have.

How many pets can fly in one container?

You can transport up to two adult animals of the same species in one cage, provided that the weight of each does not exceed 14kg and they get along together. Animals over 14kg must be transported in separate containers.

You also cannot put more than three animals of the same litter below 6 months of age in one container.

Nursed puppies and kittens can be transported together. Their number depends on the size and strength of each pet. You should avoid transporting strong and weak animals together, to avoid the former hurting the latter during the journey.

Are there any requirements to the container (bag) used to carry the animal during the flight?

Yes, there are. For the carriage of a pet animal or a bird you need a container of firm plastic, wood or metal, with ventilation. The size of the container should allow your pet to get onto its feet and turn around. The container must be equipped with a reliable lock, and absorbent/watertight material on the bottom. Bird cages should be covered with a dense cloth that does not let light through.

What procedures and documents are needed to take my pet on board?

Before check-in, your pet should go through an inspection with the Veterinary Control Service of the departure airport.

  • If you are going through Russia or to a CIS country, please show the Veterinary Control Service the «Pet Passport» and the veterinary license for the pet.
  • After the documents have been checked, and the pet’s condition inspected, the veterinary license will be stamped, and you will receive a special boarding pass which you should show at the check-in counter.
  • If you are making an international flight (not including CIS countries), you will receive a veterinary certificate valid for 1-3 days in return for the veterinary license. In order to carry the pet on an international flight, you need to show Russian Customs the certificate confirming that the pet isn’t of pedigree value.

Additional requirements:

  • Container or cage complying with the requirements to the containers for pet transportation by air.
  • The pet must have been vaccinated against rabies not earlier than a year and not later than a month before the flight.

Please check all the requirements and procedures for animal transportation with the Veterinary Control Service of the departure airport beforehand.

How can I prepare my pet for the flight?

Here are some tips:

  • Feed your pet with light food about two hours before the departure (it is not necessary to feed the pet during a flight less than 12 hours).
  • Exercise your pet immediately before the departure.
  • If your dog is of a breed with a flat nose (for example a boxer, bulldog, pekinese or pug), please make sure that the container’s ventilation is fully open. It is very important for your dog not to have problems breathing.
  • Do not use a sedative to calm the pet for the flight.
  • To avoid your pet getting nervous, put a familiar item such as a ball or toy in the container.
  • Write your pet’s name on the container so that flight attendants can speak to it in a familiar way to calm it if necessary.

Should I feed my pet during the flight?

Pets generally don’t need food for 12 hours after departure, but you can take food in case of flight delay. You should provide your pet with water during the flight, but please make sure it doesn’t leak out of the container.
