Special assistance

Infant (INF) 0-2 years of age

Children under the age of 2 are considered infants (INF). It is strongly recommended not to travel with infants under 2 weeks of age. Infants may travel sitting on an adult’s lap by paying a special fare to be determined each time on the basis of the chosen destination and flight period, and may not have any supplementary Baggage other than that of the person travelling with them. An adult passenger can travel accompanied by one infant only. The baby has no baggage, but may keep a pushchair until it is time to board the aircraft and then send it along with the rest of the luggage. The pushchair will be returned directly below ground on arrival at destination.

Pregnant women (PREG)

The carrier agrees to carry women who are up to 27 weeks pregnant (inclusive) without a medical certificate. When the journey takes place between weeks 28 and 35 of the pregnancy (both inclusive), the original doctor’s permission must be provided stating that the passenger is fit to fly, the period of validity and the doctor’s registration number and signature. Women who are at week 36 or more of their pregnancy may not travel.

Unaccompanied Minors (UM)

A minor not accompanied by an adult is defined by the term ¨un-accompanied minor¨ (UM) and must travel under the custody of the Carrier. Children under the age of 5 are not allowed to travel unaccompanied. Children between the ages of 12 to 18 years are considered Young passengers and do not travel under the custody of the carrier, unless otherwise requested by the parents. Passengers under 14 are accepted on board the Carrier’s aircraft if accompanied by a Passenger who is at least 18. The Carrier will not accept on board several underage passengers accompanied by a single passenger who is only 18.

For charter flights, it is necessary to contact Albastar at specialrequest@albastar.es or the travel agency who will inform the Carrier with the personal data of the person who is accompanying the minor to the airport of departure and of the person who is collecting the minor at the airport of destination.

The Booking Office and/or the travel agency shall provide all necessary instructions concerning the procedure for unaccompanied minors and the payment of the relevant service fee. The unaccompanied minor must arrive at the Carrier’s check-in desks in the airport of departure at least 2 hours before departure time. If not, the service and the subsequent boarding and departure shall not be guaranteed. That being the case, the price of the ticket and of the customer service for the unaccompanied minor shall not be refunded.

Passengers with reduced mobility and stretcher

Passengers should inform their travel agent of the type of airport assistance they require, within 36 hours of departure. Wheelchairs are loaded into the cargo hold at no additional cost and Albastar must be informed at least 7 days prior to departure.

Blind passengers can board their guide dog free of charge as long as it is equipped with a leash, muzzle and health card.

Please specify the type of wheelchair, its dimensions, weight and whether it is manual or powered. In compliance with safety rules on wheelchair batteries, the airline has restrictions on the transport of powered wheelchairs.

Please contact with specialrequest@albastar.es also, if you require special assistance for :

  • Transport of Stretchers (the requests must be made at least 21 working days prior to the flight).
  • Blind or partially-sighted people.
  • People who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
  • People who use crutches or a walking frame.
  • People travelling with a guide dog or assistance dog
  • People with respiratory (breathing) problems
  • People with artificial limbs

Animals

Transport of animals in the cabin is permitted, prior to paying a supplementary fee, provided that the overall weight including food and pet carrier is under 8 Kg. Upon purchasing the ticket, the Passenger must make specific request for the animal transport service in compliance with the following regulations.

The animal must travel exclusively inside a pet carrier with a waterproof bottom and adequate ventilation. Passengers must provide an appropriate carrier which must comply with IATA regulations. The maximum dimensions of the cage should be: 45 x 35 x 25 cm.

Should the flight crew and ground staff consider the carrier not to be adequate or safe, the animal shall not be accepted on board the aircraft. Food and water dishes must be spill resistant to avoid accidental spillage of its contents.

The carrier must be placed on the floor, in the Passenger’s foot space or underneath the seat. The carrier may not be placed on any unoccupied seats, nor on the Passenger’s knees.

It is not permitted to carry animals on board whose characteristics could cause annoyance to other Passengers (such as bad smell, bad health conditions and hygiene and violent behaviour).

The animal must remain inside the carrier throughout the boarding and disembarking processes.

Only dogs and cats are permitted.

The Passenger shall make sure that the country of destination allows the animal into the country, that the animal’s required hygiene measures have been duly complied with and that the necessary documents for the possession and transport of the animal are available. The Passenger shall be responsible for any damages (such as fines imposed by the country of destination of the flight etc.) caused to the Carrier due to the transport of animals without adequate documentation.

On board the same flight, a maximum of 3 carriers are allowed, not more than one per passenger.

In order to verify the availability of space on board the aircraft for the transport of animals, the Passenger must contact the Carrier at callcenter@albastar.es (for scheduled flights) and specialrequest@albastar.es (for charter flights) well in advance with respect to the desired departure date. If not requested in time, the acceptance of the animal at the time of check-in may not be guaranteed.

On Albastar’s flights the transport of animals in the cargo hold is not permitted.

The crew reserves the right to change the seat of any Passenger travelling with animals in order to comply with safety regulations.

The Carrier reserves the right to deny the transport of animals in case of non-compliance of one or more of the aforementioned conditions.

Please note: considering that Alba Star accepts a maximum of 3 animals per flight on its aircraft. A maximum of one pet per passenger and only cats and dogs are allowed. In order to verify the availability of space on board of the aircraft for the transport of animals, the Passenger shall have to contact the Carrier writing to specialrequest@albastar.es well in advance with respect to the desired departure date. If not, should this not be the case, the acceptance of the animal at the time of check-in may not be guaranteed.
